Easy 30 Minute Teriyaki Steak Bites Ingredients
Steak, top sirloin, 3 pounds, cut into bite size pieces
Olive Oil, 1 tablespoon, or more as needed
Teriyaki Sauce, ¼ cup
Lime Juice, ½ teaspoon
Brown Sugar, 1 tablespoon, make your own with this recipe
Cornstarch, 1 tablespoon
Sesame Oil, 1 teaspoon
Garlic Powder, 1 teaspoon
Garlic Salt, 1 teaspoon
Red Pepper Flakes, 1 teaspoon
Red Bell Pepper, ½, sliced into thin strips
Green Bell Pepper, ½, sliced into thin strips
Onion, ½, sliced thin
Easy 30 Minute Teriyaki Steak Bites Directions
Cut the steak into bite size pieces, about ¾ inch. This is a matter of preference, and the size of the steak may affect the cooking time necessary.
In a mixing bowl, whisk everything but the steak and vegetables together. The teriyaki sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, cornstarch, sesame oil, garlic powder, garlic salt, and red pepper flakes. Whisk thoroughly until the brown sugar and cornstarch have dissolved completely.
Pour the mix over the steak bites and toss until evenly coated. The sauce doesn’t look like it is nearly enough, as it is thick. But it will thoroughly coat the steak, don’t worry.
Cut the vegetables into thin strips and set aside.
Drizzle the olive oil into a pan, and turn the heat up to medium-high.
Once the pan is hot, cook the steak bites in batches until they are all cooked. You will want to do this in batches so that you get a nice sear on the outside of the meat. The cooking time will depend on the size of your steak bites and desired doneness. I like mine medium-rare, so it doesn’t take but a few minutes.
Remove the meat and transfer it to a platter to keep warm until all of the steak bites are cooked. Add in more olive oil as necessary.
Once the meat is all cooked, now it is time for the vegetables, the green and red bell peppers, and the onions. Add them into the pan and saute for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, to keep from burning, but coming out crisp-tender.
Serve with rice.
Recipe Notes
Easy 30 Minute Teriyaki Steak Bites are a great recipe that you can tweak to fit your own preferences. If you dislike spice, leave out the red pepper flakes. If you want more acid, add in more lime juice.
Another great option is adding more vegetables if you want to stretch the recipe without breaking the bank. It would be perfect with mushrooms and zucchini added in.
You can also skip the red bell pepper if you choose. I dislike green peppers alone, and much prefer the sweetness that reds bring, as an added compliment to green peppers. But it isn’t a requirement. Use what you have.
Why I Love This Recipe
The first and biggest reason I love this recipe is that it is easy. Yes, I love to cook and make elaborate things all the time. But there are still days where if it can’t be done in less than half an hour, I’m just not doing it. Because I’m tired, busy, maybe even just lazy. I have those days, as I’m sure everyone does. This is an amazing meal when time isn’t my friend.
The best part for me is that it is something I can prepare with my husband together, and cut the time in half. He makes the sauce while I prepare the steak and vegetables. It is a go-to beef recipe when we don’t have much time or someone gets hangry and dinner needs to be quick.
I also love this recipe because it doesn’t have to be the same every time. It is an excellent base that can be changed and tweaked. I made it the first time exactly as I wrote it above. I’ve also experimented with adding my favorite stir fry vegetables to it, like mushrooms and zucchini.
You can also add in peanuts or sesame seeds to garnish the final product, if you would like.
As I said, it is an excellent base to start with, that gives you a hearty, filling, and quick meal, and you can add to it as desired.
This is a meal that anyone of any skill level can make. You don’t have to be Betty Crocker to make this amazing and easy meal for you or your family. It is simply cutting up a steak and a couple of vegetables, mixing a sauce together, and cooking it. It can’t get much easier than that for a homemade meal that is all fresh ingredients.
