Easy 5 Ingredient Hot Buttered Cheerios
Easy 5 Ingredient Hot Buttered Cheerios are the most amazing snack. I made this for my husband earlier in the week, and he has inhaled it. It doesn’t last long in my household. He has said several times now that I am welcome to make this recipe anytime I want to. Which is a sign he loves it.
Lately I have been looking at the things we spend money on at the grocery store, and where I could cut that down a bit by making my own. Snacks and sauces are huge on that list. It is so easy to make them myself, and I know exactly what is in them, so why buy a commercially made product?

Easy 5 Ingredient Hot Buttered Cheerios Ingredients
Cheerios, 4 cups
Butter, ¼ cup or ½ a stick
Vanilla Extract, ¼ teaspoon
Sugar, ¼ cup
Cinnamon, 1 teaspoon
Easy 5 Ingredient Hot Buttered Cheerios Directions
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
In a saucepan on the stove, melt the butter over a low heat.
Add in the vanilla.
Measure out the cinnamon and sugar into a mixing bowl.
In a roasting pan, measure out the Cheerios.
Slowly and gently drizzle the melted butter and vanilla over the Cheerios.
Sprinkle it with cinnamon and sugar.
Using a silicone spatula, mix it thoroughly, until all of the Cheerios are well coated with the other ingredients, the butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar.
Bake at 250 degrees for 60 minutes, stirring gently and mixing every 15 minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow them to cool, and serve. Transfer to a sealed container and store for up to 3 days. You can still eat them after the 3 day mark, but they will start to lose the crunch.
Recipe Notes
You can use any variation of Cheerios that you want. Feel free to try it with others besides the plain ones. Those are just my personal preference.
When stirring every 15 minutes, be gentle. You want to go under the Cheerios to bring up all the liquid and seasoning on the bottom of the pan, and also to help stir and dry the Cheerios. If you’re rough with them, they will crumble apart, and nobody wants to eat crumbs. At least not to start with.
When you scrape the bottom of the pan with the silicone spatula, when you notice that it doesn’t look wet, that is when your Cheerios are done. If you don’t get to this point, they are going to be both soggy and sticky. You don’t want that. So watch the spatula, and that will tell you when you’re done.
If your Cheerios mixture still looks wet after an hour, let it go another 15 minutes. You shouldn’t need to go much further beyond that, but you also want to make sure it is dry and crispy.
Why I Love This Recipe
I love this recipe because it is so easy to make, and only has five ingredients. You really can’t screw it up. Which makes it a perfect snack if you’re just learning how to make your own snacks at home instead of buying them in the store.
All of these ingredients I have at home in the pantry and refrigerator. I literally always have every item on this list, and you likely do as well. That is the beauty of this recipe! It utilizes pantry staples and only five of them. Who doesn’t love a recipe using things you already have? Because I do!
This creates an easy and delicious snack that everyone will love. My husband inhaled these and trust me when I say, they didn’t last long in my house. But that is great too. Who needs a stale snack that should be tossed? Make something everyone will love.
