Homemade Cajun Seasoning Ingredients
Paprika, 3 tablespoons
Salt, 2 teaspoons
Garlic Powder, 2 tablespoons
Black Pepper, 1 tablespoon
White Pepper, 1 tablespoon
Onion Powder, 1 tablespoon
Oregano, 1 tablespoon
Cayenne Pepper, 1 teaspoon
Ancho Chili Powder, 1 teaspoon
Thyme, 2 teaspoons

Homemade Cajun Seasoning Directions
Measure out all the spices in a mixing bowl and mix well with a whisk.
Using a spice grinder, grind up the oregano and thyme until they are a powder. If the garlic or onion powder have become clumpy, put them in the spice grinder as well.
Store in an airtight container until ready to use. I love mason jars for this purpose.
This recipe can be doubled or tripled to have some on hand in the pantry. Making a large batch saves time on busy weeknights. I make several different spice blends in batches when I have some extra time.

Recipe Notes
You can add or subtract any spices to fit your own taste.
Making a bulk amount is also really easy. I do this and keep it in my pantry. Everything I linked to is exactly what I use, so I always have these items.
This recipe also makes a perfect gift for the holidays, father’s day, or for that one person on our shopping list that seems impossible to buy for. We all have that one person on our list, and I always end up making something like this. Put it in a mason jar with a neat bow and custom made label, it is a fun gift.

Why I Love This Recipe
I love this seasoning blend because I can control what is in it. I think too many times that commercially purchased spice blends are very salt-forward, and not much else. Because the ingredients are so vague, it is really hard to determine what is in them and if anyone with dietary restrictions can eat it.
This recipe is vegan as it is, but can be used on meat or veggies. It is a perfectly versatile recipe that can be used in many different ways. It is perfect for chicken or pork or veggies. If you are looking for a meat alternative, grilled tofu with this cajun seasoning would be absolutely perfect because it will soak up all the delicious taste.
You can certainly add or subtract ingredients to fit into your own personal taste, and that is important. If you want more spice, add chili powder, or cut back on the salt if necessary.
Making your own spice blends is also inexpensive. Why buy individual spices, then buy a premade spice blend on top of that? It is a waste of money and space in the pantry. I like saving money!
One of my biggest pet peeves is running out of an ingredient mid-recipe and having to stop and either figure out a substitution or make an emergency store run. This is such a waste of time for me, and it always irritates me. Making my own mixes means I never run out of what I need.
Being a prepper, being able to make spice mixes like this is a huge confidence booster because I know if I can make things like this from scratch.
