Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice
Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice is a condiment recipe that I make myself. As a prepper and homemaker, I am always looking to learn new ways to make things myself. Plus it is cheaper to make my own pumpkin pie spice, so there’s no excuse not to do it.

Pumpkin pie spice is a mix that is often used in my household in the fall, because I am a big pumpkin fan, and love baking desserts, especially for holiday gatherings.
Have you made your own homemade pumpkin pie spice? Come on in and let me teach you how! You’ll be asking yourself why you didn’t start sooner!
Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice Ingredients
Cinnamon, 6 tablespoons
Ginger, 4 teaspoons
Nutmeg, 4 teaspoons
Allspice, 3 teaspoons
Cloves, 3 teaspoons
Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice Directions
In a mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients and mix with a spatula until well-combined.
Store in a mason jar in a cool dark place until you are ready to use it.
Recipe Notes
If the ginger clumps, use a sifter to evenly distribute it. I really like this handheld one, as it is just the right size for a job like this, and can be used for other baking projects.
Depending on how much you bake and use pumpkin pie spice, you can easily double this recipe, or cut it in half to suit your own needs, and then make more as needed.
This recipe is vegan, so if you have friends or family that are vegan, it is perfect to serve them, or to give as a gift.
Homemade pumpkin pie spice mix is a perfect recipe to make with kids! Because it will teach them to measure out individual spices, and make something themselves instead of depending on the grocery store for commercially made products. It may also inspire them to continue learning to make other things, and create great memories with you.
Why I Love This Recipe
I love this recipe because it is easy. Throw everything into a mixing bowl, stir it up, then save it until you’re ready to use it. That’s it!
For how easy it is to make, I think it is ridiculous to buy it in the store. It took all of five minutes to make myself, yet when I buy it pre-made, I am paying someone else for that, and buying excess amounts of spices I already have in my pantry. Why? We should all be more conscious of this! For me, this is literally the simplest way to save money in my household.
Anybody with even a moderately well-stocked pantry should have these ingredients. It is also one of the reasons I like to buy my spices in bulk, so I have them to make things myself when it is needed.
This homemade pumpkin pie spice recipe also ensures that I never run out in the middle of a recipe. I can’t count (and cringe at trying) how many times that has happened in the past.
I learned how to make my own baking powder for the exact same reason. I became annoyed with having to stop what I was doing and run to the store because I ran out mid-recipe. That sucks up both time and money for me, and I’m not a fan of losing either one.
This recipe also makes a wonderful gift! One of my favorite things to do with this recipe is to put it in a mason jar with a ribbon, a label, and then a recipe. The ones I often include are my pumpkin chocolate chip cookie or pumpkin cheesecake recipes when giving this spice mix as a gift. I have found homemade gifts like this are perfect for the family members who are otherwise impossible to shop for during the holidays.
