Homemade French Fry Seasoning
Homemade french fry seasoning is my latest and greatest condiment recipe. If you know me, you know that with being a prepper, I love making things from scratch. Because I love knowing what is going into the food I’m consuming.

I love, love, love me a great french fry! Who doesn’t love crispy fried potatoes? Bonus points if you enjoy yours extra crispy like I do. I like mine extra crispy and dipped in fry sauce or ranch dressing.
After developing this homemade french fry seasoning, I will never buy another premade spice mix from the store again for my fries. This recipe is just that great, and has become a total game changer in my household!
Homemade French Fry Seasoning Ingredients
Minced Onion, 2 teaspoons
Minced Garlic, 2 teaspoons
Paprika, 2 teaspoons
Parsley, dried, ½ teaspoon
Oregano, dried, ½ teaspoon
Basil, dried, ½ teaspoon
Pepper, ½ teaspoon
Cayenne pepper, ¼ teaspoon
Salt, 1 teaspoon
Homemade French Fry Seasoning Directions
In a mason jar, combine all of the ingredients and give it a good shake to mix everything together.
Label the jar with what it is, french fry seasoning, and the date. Homemade spice mixes like this will store in a dry dark place for six months.
Once it is made, sprinkle the desired amount onto your french fries and enjoy!
Homemade French Fry Seasoning Notes
If you are looking for a deeper smokey note, you can add in ancho chili powder, or use it in place of the paprika.
Another great option to add a depth of flavor is some dried thyme, 1/4 teaspoon, and is completely optional.
If you are serving this on fries to small kids, I recommend being a bit more liberal with the cayenne, until you know for sure they can handle it.
I store mine in whole form, but once you’re ready to use it, use a spice grinder to turn it into a powder, where all spices can be mixed together better and then serve.
Why I Love This Recipe
I love this recipe because it is easy and simplistic. It doesn’t matter what level of culinary skills you have, you can make this recipe. Sometimes simple and uncomplicated is just the best way to go. In fact, most times that is the case.
All of the ingredients are things I have on hand in my pantry. This makes it really easy to toss a batch together whenever I need to. Or I can double and triple the recipe to always have some on hand.
This homemade french fry seasoning also makes an excellent gift around the holidays. Decorate the mason jar with a nice label and a bow, and done.
I love knowing what is in the food that I am consuming, and knowing there is nothing in it that I can’t pronounce, and no preservatives. Every ingredient speaks for itself, since there’s nothing extra in it. The more I can make from scratch, the happier I am! How about you?

It is vegan!
Having a conversation with a vegan friend yesterday, I was telling him about this delicious recipe, and it occurred to me that it is completely and naturally vegan.
I often forget some of the most basic things we make daily are vegan, because I am not trying to manipulate it in any way to turn it vegan. Which is my favorite way to eat vegan food, without any kind of manipulation.
I love being able to share the kind of recipes with friends and family where their dietary choices or restrictions are still met, without any effort on my part. It just happens, and that is perfect.

Wow! How delicious. I just had house style fries at a cafe and they were delicious. I was thinking I wish I knew how to make these at home! Your recipe is perfect timing.

Oh, nice! I think making french fries at home might be very beneficial in terms of control of ingredients. for example, I’d use an air fryer to make fries of oil.
